In her first talk for the Wisdom Center, Loppon will talk about what awakening (commonly known as enlightenment) is, what prevents us from finding our way there, and the practices regarded as awakened in Tibet all have in common. Taking a non-sectarian approach, she will address both our modern doubts and concerns about karma, rebirth, and gurus and the joy and satisfaction that comes from accomplishing a focused progression of varied practices known as Ngondro.
Her new book is called Clearing the Way to Awakening: a Nine-Step Practice from Tibetan Buddhism. You can find it through all the usual online booksellers and copies will be available at the event.
Loppon Yudron was authorized to teach by Lama Pema Dorje Rinpoche and completed years of practice in both group and solitary isolated retreat, and in daily life as a working person in the nursing field. She was also a long-term student of late great Lama Tharchin Rinpoche of the Santa Cruz area. She lives in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range and heads the Buddhist non-profit, the Mayum Mountain Foundation. www.mayummountain.org
